Australia's involvement in World War 1 during 1914-1918 allowed Australians to experience war for one of the first times since British colonisation. When World War 2 commenced in 1939, Australia was divided between British nationalistic pride and caution. With the ever-looming threat of Japanese invasion due to their imperialistic interests in the Asia-Pacific region, Australia, under PM Robert Menzies, entered the war.
